Impeachment is when Congress and the Supreme Court exercise what the Constitution calls "Checks and Balances." Contrary to popular belief, impeachment does not necessarily result in removal from office. Impeachment means that the Legislature has the legal right to investigate, expose, and remedy crimes committed by a politician or the President of the United States of America. In a nutshell, impeachment can be explained in seven steps. First, the House Judiciary Committee deliberates over whether to initiate an impeachment inquiry. Then, The Judiciary Committee adopts a resolution seeking authority from the entire House of Representatives to conduct an inquiry. Before voting, the House debates and considers the resolution. Approval requires a majority vote. Thirdly, the Judiciary Committee conducts an impeachment inquiry where articles of impeachment are prepared, which must be approved by a majority vote of the Committee. Next, The House of Representatives considers and debates the articles of impeachment and decides by a majority vote if the President shall be brought to trial and impeached. After it is decided that the President will be impeached, the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court presides over the President's trial in the Senate. Following the conclusion of the trial, the Senate votes on whether or not the President shall be removed from office. A two-thirds vote is required to replace the President. Finally, if the President is in fact removed, the Vice President will take over as head of the Executive Branch. If the President is not removed, he will return to his job in office. Are Book Signings Too Old-Fashioned This past week, a new author with a newly-released book asked how I approached libraries about holding a book signing. The question took me aback a second, because from my experiences over these last few years, theres almost no such thing as just a signing anymore. Out of my response to her, I molded this weeks essay. First, I dont ask libraries for a book signing. I suggest a presentation for their customers. While books are set up in the back of the room for sale, thats not the point of the event. Libraries are educational, and writers have to think beyond just autographs. Signings When I appear at libraries, Im teaching writing, editing, publishing, marketing, and mysteries, not appearing to talk about s elling my books. Thats not to say that my books arent woven into the presentation. But your chances improve for acceptance if you approach libraries with more opportunity for them than for you. The author responded that she didnt want to promote herself, only wanted readers to buy the book. So I replied: If readers only wanted the book, they wouldnt want the signatures or the appearances and would just order the thing from Amazon. Readers want more of authors these days. They want to know the details behind the book, behind the author. Promotion is a big deal  with so many people writing a book. Consider these appearances as events, more than book selling. Otherwise, you will continue selling five books here and five books there forever. There have been events where I sold not a single bookhowever, I found ways to have my appearance paid for. Yes, Im am paid to appear at most library functions. My library events alone were about $8,000 of my income this year, because I was willing to speak about writing, publishing, editing, and the magic behind mysteries, making the books secondary. Its a balance, and you learn as you go. Become more than the author of a book. Assure librarians you are there for them. Become a professional author with the book being a tool. Thats how you begin accruing  a writing income.

Many people learned to face these hard times with the help of famous sports figures. They gave hope and to many people pride in what they stood for to them. While on the Ohio State University track team in 1935 he set a world record in the broad jump (26 feet 8 1/4 ). In 1936 he set a new world record in the 100m. dash,(10.2 sec.). In 1936 as a member of the U.S. track team at the Olympic games in Berlin, Jesse Owens won four gold medals and set more new world records. This is an important moral buster to the American people, white and black, because once again it showed Nazis were not a superior race. An African American man had won four gold medals. This was humiliating and angered Adolf Hitler . â€Å" His paramont victory at the 1936 Olympic Games in Berlin was made even more memorable when Adolf Hitler refused to award Owens his four gold medals because he was black.† ( Encyclopedia 97 ) This was as much a victory for the American people as for Owens. Evil is often mistaken to be innate behaviour, but in reality evil is learned. The definition of evil is someone or something that is morally bad or wrong; wicked. It can also be defined as a sin. Evil is learned through other people and it can happen to anyone. It can involve situations like, family problems, like divorce, or the community where one grows up in can have a major effect on a person. It is learned when an individual has a temper and yells at another person or uses physical abuse towards them. When a child is first born into this world they do not already have evil inside them, it is learned by their surroundings, as they grow older. Newborn children are sweet, innocent babies who don’t even know what evil is. When newborns are raised over time and live in a negative surrounding, they can easily learn how to be evil. Evil can be learned at any age, it doesn’t matter if you’re young or old. An example of a child turning evil is watching his/her parents go through a divorce. Situations like this has a major effect on children, it brings questions to their head like â€Å"Was it my fault?† Kids will start to feel insecure and they might get themselves into the wrong things like drugs. They would turn to bad things for help because they are feeling insecure. If it is an adult watching their parents go through a divorce then they can probably get a better understanding of it and why it is necessarily. But, even those who are getting the divorce can turn to things that can make them learn to be evil, by hanging out with different people and turning to alcohol and drugs. Things like this shows how evil is not innate and is learned. In today’s society there are many parts of communities that don’t have a good reputation and involve kids who deal drugs and do drugs. A person can easily get caught in the wrong group and do the wrong things, this can bring someone to learn to be evil. This doesn’t just happen to communities that look bad and live in poverty, this also happens in communities that seem to have a good reputation. Drugs are everywhere in this world, but the only way one can get through it is by saying ‘no’, this can help someone not become evil. Family and the surrounding’s around a person can bring someone to learn how to be evil. If there is any type of abuse in the household it can teach a person to be like that, whether it is physical, verbal, or emotional abuse, this can also bring someone to learn evil. Television also has a big role in a person learning evil. A great example is shown on TV. If you have ever seen a show called The Simpsons, the baby, Maggie, shows to be an innocent little child until she learns to do bad things to others, which is shown on a certain program on television. This is a perfect example that show’s how evil is not innate behaviour, but is actually learned.  Therefore, through examples of today’s society and through television evil is all around the world in every community, whether its family or not. Also known as  order of place or space structure, spatial order describes things as they appear when observed - in  descriptions of places and objects, spatial order determines the perspective from which readers observe the details. David S. Hogsette points out in Writing That Makes Sense that technical writers may use spatial order  to explain how a mechanism works; architects use spatial order to describe a building design; [and]  food critics reviewing a new restaurant use spatial order to describe and evaluate the dining area. As opposed to chronological order  or other organizational methods for data, spatial order ignores time and focuses primarily on location, as seen in David Sedaris description of a Nudist Trailer Park or in this comparison essay by Sarah Vowell. Transitions for Spatial Order A spatial order comes with a set of transitive  words and phrases that help writers and speakers distinguish between parts of the spatial ordering of a paragraph or argument, of which include above, alongside, behind, beneath, beyond down, farther along, in back, in front, near or nearby, on top of, to the left or right of, under and up. Like the words first, next and finally function in a chronological organization, these spatial transitions help guide a reader spatially through a paragraph, especially those used for descriptions of scene and setting in prose and poetry.   For instance, one might start with describing a field as a whole but then focus in on individual details as they relate to one another in the setting. The well is next to the apple tree, which is behind the barn. Further down the field is a stream, beyond which lies another lush meadow with three cows grazing near a perimeter fence. Appropriate Use of Spatial Order The best place to use spatial organization is in descriptions of scene and setting, but it can also be utilized when giving instructions or directions. In any case, the logical progression of one thing as it relates to another in a scene or setting provides an advantage to using this type of organization when writing about a setting. However, this also provides the disadvantage of making all items described within a scene carry the same intrinsic weight to their importance. By using a spatial order to organize a description, it becomes hard for the writer to ascribe more importance to say the dilapidated  farmhouse in a full detailing of a farm scene. As a result, using spatial order to organize all descriptions is not advised. Sometimes it is important for the writer to only point out the most important details of a scene or setting, giving emphasis to things like the bullet hole in a glass window on the front of a house instead of describing every detail of the scene in order to convey the idea that the home is not in a safe neighborhood. Writers should, therefore, determine the intention of describing a scene or occurrence before deciding which organization method to use when presenting the piece. Although the use of spatial order is quite common with scene descriptions, sometimes chronological or even just stream-of-consciousness is a better method of organization to convey a certain point.

South African Population Registration Act of 1950 South Africas Population Registration Act No. 30 (commenced on July 7) was passed in 1950 and defined in clear terms who belonged to a particular race. Race was defined by physical appearance and the act required people to be identified and registered from birth as belonging to one of four distinct racial groups: White, Coloured, Bantu (Black African), and Other. It was one of the pillars of Apartheid. When the law was implemented, citizens were issued identity documents and race was reflected by the individuals Identity Number. The Act was typified by humiliating tests which determined race through perceived linguistic and/or physical characteristics.
